A Happy Memorial Day

A nice quiet weekend here. Yesterday Jerry and I went to Powell Gardens in Missouri. The state line being just a hop skip and jump away, it takes only minutes to be on the Missouri side. The gardens were beautiful as well as the weather, a nice sunny 89 degrees. Well that was a bit hot yet I dare not complain after the long winter we had.
Plenty of benches in tranquil and shady spots to rest awhile.

A special exhibit is there for the summer, 54 large stone sculptures hand carved from artists in Zimbabwe. Each sculpture weighing between 500 to 5000 pounds they were quite impressive. Strategically placed throughout the park they really added special interest.

Large flowers such as peonies and hydrangeas are my favourites. If only I could get mine to grow like this I would be in 7th heaven.

It stormed all last night and sprinkled most of the day. This did not deter Jerry from smoking our turkey outside in his Hastybake! By late afternoon the sun came out and we had our picnic for 3; turkey, hashbrown casserole, beans, corn bread and Boston Cream pie, woof, woof, we are too stuffed to move now. So I am taking this break to wish you all a nice ending to your holiday weekend. And now I am off to tackle cleaning up the kitchen!

A new idol!

Well David Cook, you have made your Kansas Cityans proud tonight and believe me according to the news they are going crazy downtown. Isn't it always so exciting when someone local makes it big. Congratulations on your win!

Back on track

Well it has been awhile! I had to pretty much ban myself from the computer to get anything done around here. It is much worse than TV. I can get pretty involved blog hopping and spend hours looking around and getting very little accomplished on the home front.
As you can see I am still tackling the spring cleaning, or weeding out I should say. Looks like all I did here was make my stacks a little neater LOL.

Actually I have spent most of my time lately holed up in the sewing room. Nearly done with a new sweatshirt pattern. I'll be able to show the whole thing next week once I take pictures for the cover. The colors are gorgeous, rich wool applique shades for fall. Included in the pattern is a cute little wristlet purse to take a long and stash your keys/cell phone in.

Cleo never lays on her back. Only son Jon is able to cradle her like a sleeping baby, she just loves him!

Just had to throw in a few pics of the double trouble munchkins. They recently visited the Dallas arboretum. Judging by all the pics their Mommy took, what a FABULOUS place to visit. I won't bore you with all 20 pics. Here is Aiden, he just thinks this rattlesnake sculpture is a riot!
Brandon has to check out this oriental sculpture before entering the bamboo gardens, anything in there? Hope your hand doesn't get stuck!

This baby deer is very cute. Oh my gosh, don't you just love this age!
The weather here has finally settled in to spring, plenty of sun and 70's. So nice to have the doors and windows open once again.
I imagine most of you are getting ready for a nice long Memorial Day weekend. We'll be hanging out here. Maybe Hubby and I will take a nice little day trip to get out and about. These holidays are always hard for him. He really REALLY misses having the kids near by, a big picnic with lots of yard games. Boy o boy he loves croquet, boccie and jarts!
You all have a nice one and travel safe!

STUFF!

A nice rainy day here in KC. I have been trying to do a little spring cleaning. Where to begin......
hmmmm....... will it be behind door #1 or perhaps the garage?

Actually I think this is a no brainer. Yes Jerry, my kitchen cupboards are stuffed, I know you feel we should start downsizing. I agree. But I have a thing for glassware and none of these cute 50's Christmas glasses can go.
Maybe we could weed out some of your golf clubs. Lets see, right here I see 4 sets of golf clubs, that is not counting several other sets in the basement! Too many clubs for even an octopus.
Oh well, I am not getting too far, I've spent my morning talking on the phone. My dear friend Kathy in New York and daughter in Dallas. Now its time to head to the post office and then maybe a little sewing.
Have a fun day!

It Was A Dark And Stormy Night........

Oh boy, yes it was! After last post you must know I was in my glory, tornado warnings with the sirens going off every 8 minutes! I took this picture from the front porch around 7pm, pretty dark out with one large rotating cloud overhead. A tornado warning means rotation is showing up on radar, although an actual tornado may not be on the ground, conditions are favorable to produce one at any time. Shoved Cleo in the basement while I went out on the front porch to check it out. An hour later all the weather hoopla was over, I had missed Survivor and didn't see who was booted off.

Once again, here is Cleo munching down on my flowers Jerry brought me, (hard up for blog pics this week) LOL What is it about flowers that cats love them so much? Anybody know?
I have three different sewing projects in the works, none near completion. Sometimes too many projects in progress clutter my thoughts, doesn't take much these days! I set 2 aside and returned to sewing a little quilt today, the one I fell in love with 1st.
Waiting for Jerry to get home and take me out to Chipoltes, craving a pork taco for dinner.
I got my tax rebate today, I cant wait to go stimulate the economy!
Happy Friday! Happy Weekend!
